Mill Department Lead
About Us
Firland Workshop is a non-profit organization in Shoreline WA that provides opportunities for employment to mission-based employees. Firland Workshop manufactures precision aerospace components. We have a wide set of tools and capabilities in the shop including water jet, turret punch, brake press, CNC, riveting, bonding, assembly, and debur. We are seeking a CNC Mill Department Lead to join our team in a full-time onsite capacity.
Responsibilities
The Mill Lead is responsible for the activities and products of the machining department (CNC machines, saws, drills, lathes). The Mill lead is also responsible for developing and improving the department’s processes, and the personnel in the department by providing leadership and accountability for results.
- Lead and train people who have barriers to employment
- Write and edit programs in Mastercam and understand and edit G-code
- Set-up and operate machines
- Maintain and repair machines
- Trains new and existing personnel
- Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications
- Interprets aerospace specifications, drawings, and work orders
- Assigns tasks and duties
- Enforces safety regulations
- Design layouts and manufacturing processes for new jobs
- Estimate new products
- Collaborate with Manager on employee evaluations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, technical school preferred
- Strong reading and math skills
- Able to read and interpret drawings
- 5+ years of CNC mill experience
- Solid computer skills, including a strong understanding of G-code
- A commitment to producing uniform high-quality work
