Production Planner
About Us
Firland Workshop is a non-profit precision machine shop in Shoreline WA that provides opportunities for employment to mission-based employees. Firland Workshop manufactures precision aerospace components. We are looking for a Production Planner to join our team onsite in a full-time capacity.
Job Summary
We are seeking a manufacturing planner to join our office team. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding the planning process and ensuring correct and complete work orders. The ideal candidate will have a background in machining or planning and has the ability to read and understand blueprints.
Key Responsibilities
The Production Planner will be responsible for creating and reviewing work orders for our factory. The ability to develop a full understanding of the manufacturing process will be a key component of success. We intend to hire a candidate that is capable of growing into the Planning Lead in approximately one year. Specific tasks include:
- Releasing accurate work orders to the floor
- Creating first build production plans
- Reading and interpreting blueprints
- Reporting errors to supervisors
- Updating and communicating status on work orders
- Performing quality checks to identify inconsistencies
- Troubleshooting planning issues
- Collaborating with quality and production staff to create and maintain a high-quality and high-efficiency production process
- Supporting our continuous improvement (Kaizen) culture by identifying areas of concern and proposing solutions to mitigate waste.
- Tracking inventory
- Following safety protocols
- Cleaning and maintaining work area and equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, technical school preferred
- High school level of reading and math
- Able to read blueprints
- Basic computer skills
- Sufficient manual dexterity to use computer daily
- A commitment to following instructions and produce uniform high-quality work
- Ability to start day by 7:00 AM
Preferred: some experience in a production role.
Environment
As a workshop, you will be subjected to loud noises, chemicals, moving equipment, and heavy machinery. PPE and safety training will be provided. There are a few physical demands of this job:
- Frequent repetitive motions
- Eye strain (small text)
- Motor function
- Sedentary work
- Ability to carry 20 lbs
- Early working hours
