Firland Workshop is a non-profit precision machine shop in Shoreline WA that provides opportunities for employment to mission-based employees. Firland Workshop manufactures precision aerospace components. We are looking for a Production Planner to join our team onsite in a full-time capacity.
We have earned a reputation for quality and on-time delivery with our customers. We believe that is very important. We intend to hire people who will work hard to help us maintain that reputation.

Production Planner
Job Summary
We are seeking a manufacturing planner to join our office team. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding the planning process and ensuring correct and complete work orders. The ideal candidate will have a background in machining or planning and has the ability to read and understand blueprints.
Key Responsibilities
The Production Planner will be responsible for creating and reviewing work orders for our factory. The ability to develop a full understanding of the manufacturing process will be a key component of success. We intend to hire a candidate that is capable of growing into the Planning Lead in approximately one year. Specific tasks include:
- Releasing accurate work orders to the floor
- Creating first build production plans
- Reading and interpreting blueprints
- Reporting errors to supervisors
- Updating and communicating status on work orders
- Performing quality checks to identify inconsistencies
- Troubleshooting planning issues
- Collaborating with quality and production staff to create and maintain a high-quality and high-efficiency production process
- Supporting our continuous improvement (Kaizen) culture by identifying areas of concern and proposing solutions to mitigate waste.
- Tracking inventory
- Following safety protocols
- Cleaning and maintaining work area and equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, technical school preferred
- High school level of reading and math
- Able to read blueprints
- Basic computer skills
- Sufficient manual dexterity to use computer daily
- A commitment to following instructions and produce uniform high-quality work
- Ability to start day by 7:00 AM
Preferred: some experience in a production role.
Environment
As a workshop, you will be subjected to loud noises, chemicals, moving equipment, and heavy machinery. PPE and safety training will be provided. There are a few physical demands of this job:
- Frequent repetitive motions
- Eye strain (small text)
- Motor function
- Sedentary work
- Ability to carry 20 lbs
- Early working hours
Job Type: Full-time
Work Location: On-site in Shoreline, WA
Pay Rate: $22/hr – $27/hr
Mill Manager
Job Summary
We are looking for a Mill Department Manager. The position will be full time, and onsite in Shoreline WA.
Key Responsibilities
The Mill Manager is responsible for the people, processes, tools, and products in the mill department. The tools in the department include a variety of CNC mill machines, saws, drills, and lathes.
The responsibilities include:
- Personnel decisions
- Leadership and development of people who have barriers to employment
- Enforcing safety regulations
- Interpret specifications, drawings, and work orders to workers, and assign duties
- Design manufacturing processes for new jobs
- Estimate the cost of new products
- Write and edit programs in Mastercam and understand and edit G-code
- Select, setup, operate, and repair machines
- Ensure products conform to specifications
The willingness and ability to teach people in an extraordinarily accommodating manner is necessary.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, with solid English and math skills
- Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, including aviation drawings
- Able to solve problems independently
- 5+ years of CNC mill, saw, and lathe experience, including programming
- Strong understanding of ERP systems
- Solid computer skills, including a strong understanding of G-code
- A commitment to producing uniform high-quality work
- Able to communicate efficiently and effectively
- Preferred: Experience managing people
- Preferred: Experience working in an AS9100 certified business
Physical Qualifications
- Able to carry 25 lbs
- Able to work standing for eight hour shifts
- Able to work sitting for eight hour shifts
- Able to work in a moderately noisy and dirty environment
Payrate: $81k – $130k / year (Salaried)
